The life of artist Nan Goldin had always been marked by her love for capturing intimate moments of her own life and those around her. But as she delved deeper into the world of photography, she found herself drawn to documenting the lives of those who struggled with addiction.It was during this time that she became aware of the Sackler family, the pharmaceutical dynasty who were the makers of OxyContin, a highly addictive painkiller that was at the center of the opioid epidemic. Nan was appalled by the sheer scale of the destruction wrought by the drug and decided to use her art to bring attention to the issue. Follows the life of artist Nan Goldin and the downfall of the Sackler family, the pharmaceutical dynasty who was greatly responsible for the opioid epidemic's unfathomable death toll.
