Movie plot
In his final days as dictator of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev was met with mass chaos and uncertainty. Domestic unrest rose in response to his push for democratic reforms and hardliners attempted a coup against him. Though it ultimately failed, Gorbachev’s tenuous rule quickly faded over the following days, leading to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in December 1991. In its place arose 15 separate countries governed by independent governments who still share cultural connections with Russia stemming from their shared history. Political chaos ensued amongst them, though over time each nation developed its own democracy and prospered independently.
